sparrow s visit of jamaica, “the isle of springs”, during the month of june 1963, has left him with very pleasant and joyful reminiscences of the love, warmth and hospitality of its people. well! and it s from there it all started, for like oliver twist, sparrow continued, where ever he went to ask for more, and, obviously when the drinks are in, the wits are out. you are therefore left to deduce whatever you may during his presentation of this contribution. “i ll be around” (bossa-nova) is a warning to one of his lovers of her promiscuous traits towards him and the retribution she would eventually suffer for so doing. theses two calypso songs were recorded with the famous bert inniss national recording orchestra. this single 7” is absolutely impossible to find and will warm any dances in the world.
im going to try not to gush too much about the fact that me me me has raj pannus first ever record, but you have to understand that he’s dj royalty to someone from where i come from. from his residencies in newcastle in the early 90s, touring all over europe, playing with the likes of gilles peterson, jazzanova and james lavelle to his move into turntablism in the late 90s playing one on one with dj craze, a-trak and q-bert.

thats desire/here we are ep is a 12inch vinyl and digital release by fragile, wolfgang tillmans evolving band project that spans from early recordings in 1986 with bert leßmann to a full band ensemble made up of a group of musicians in new york in 2016. the double a-side ep opens with thats desire, a collaboration with the new york rapper ash b. the song evokes associations with dfa, daf and a queer talking heads. in a spontaneous action ash b. takes over the mic and raps over tillmans heartfelt lyrics, originally written in 1985, combined with a funky bass line by thomas roach. the experiment results in a driving indie-dance sensation about the pleasure and pain of getting lost in ones own desire.

de:tuned was founded in 2009 by ruben boons and bert hermans. the pair first organised a series of old school techno parties in antwerp (belgium) before launching the record label in 2012. to celebrate 5 years de:tuned they now turn out a very special 5lp album featuring 21 tracks from some of the most respected names in the game. the album has its roots firmly in early/mid 90s techno and electronica, a style which de:tuned has always presented, and spans some 20 years of electronic music.

first in is a beat heavy analogue chug rework of the rare and weird italo 7 inch *i am your master* by the mysterious italo connoisseur savino dj and dj peet need based in holland. the arpeggiating bass line digs a circular trench that gets deeper as the track marches on until you end up stuck on an island with a strange creepy midget man. music that blurs the line between disco dreams and nightmares starion is back for more on ep2. how will he make a heavier track than ep1s *another dimension*? by making *darkstar*. analogue manctalo chug at its finest. big bass line, big synth chords, big vocoder action. you couldnt get more dark disco electronic if you went clubbing with daleks and the cybermen were djing.
